European readers beware: Baby Yoda-mania is coming a week ahead of schedule.
The Western European debut of Disney+ has been pushed up to March 24, 2020, one week ahead of its previously scheduled date, according to Deadline.
On that day, the streaming service will become available to fans in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland. Disney also confirmed that pricing will be £5.99/€6.99 (roughly $8 USD) per month, or £59.99/€69.99 (roughly $78 USD) for a year’s subscription. Previously, the service had been announced to premiere on March 31st. No reason for the date change was given.
Disney+ is currently scheduled to roll out in other Western European nations, including Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, later this summer.
Last month, we learned that the streaming service had earned over 22 million app downloads in its first month of operation in the United States, will over 9.5 million active daily mobile users. Now that it’s rolling out in Europe, it’s likely that its popularity will grow even further, as more fans get to experience The Mandalorian, The Imagineering Story, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and more.
