The new ride, The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash, debuted alongside the reopening of Universal Studios Hollywood on April 16. Since then, the attraction has primarily used a virtual queue. However, the ride has not been using the virtual line system for several days now, with only a traditional standby line available.
The new ride introduced a virtual line system similar to the one already in place at Universal Orlando Resort.
In Florida, virtual line availability does vary based on the time of day and the number of people in the park, so the inconsistent use of the virtual queue could be due to fluctuations with these metrics. Reportedly, the virtual line system will still be used on busy days for Secret Life of Pets.
That said, it seems The Secret Life of Pets has not utilized the virtual line for several days now.
We noticed that the virtual queue was still absent, even with longer wait times and larger crowds in the park this weekend.
Guests are waiting the “old-fashioned” way to hang out with Max, Duke, Chloe, and Gidget.

Even though we reserved a spot in the virtual line for the Secret Life of Pets Ride in Universal City, we were told we had to use the regular line and ended up waiting over 1 1/2 hours in the hot sun for this ride. There was no cover and people in line kept hogging the misting fan.
