BREAKING: Disney KiteTails Ending This Month at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney KiteTails at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is officially ending this month. The final performances will take place on September 30, 2022.

Read the official statement from Disney below:

“As you know, Disney KiteTails debuted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park for the launch of the 50th Anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World Resort. After this first year, we will transition the entertainment on Discovery River Lagoon to the Flotillas. The last flight for Disney KiteTails will be September 30, 2022.

We look forward to seeing our guests continue waving to their Disney Friends cruising by on Flotillas, embracing Disney pals with up-close encounters, and more to come as we introduce our Festive holiday season offerings in the months ahead.”

Disney KiteTails originally debuted as scheduled shows at the Discovery River Amphitheater. The shows were later cut down to unscheduled, shortened versions with no ground performers. The show was plagued with issues, including shredded kites due to the crash landings.

See the original “Lion King” and “Jungle Book” performances here, and the shortened versions here.

  1. This post is unfortunate as it contains fake news. There were only issues at the beginning of the show as is normal with a complex weather/wind sensitive show. The term “crash “ was misused as it related to planned “landings “ in a designated landing zone in the Asia grandstands. Uninformed blogs have created a unfortunate negative picture from the beginning. To bad. Shame on you!

    • So it didn’t crash into trees and rip the kite, despite photographic evidence? I’d reread the piece, you’re jumping to conclusions based on what people on social media are saying. This comment is uneducated.

  2. I guess they ran out of kites, got tired of being booed (and people asking about rivers), & lets face it was it smart to have a show in the middle of the fl heat none of those areas were built for daytime show they were meant for rivers!

    • If any are left are you the shows 1 fan? I told from a friend theres an antique store in lakeland that gets stuff from disney directly but do not expect it to be cheap beyond its disney.
