*NEW* Tostada de Carnitas: Braised Pork on a Fried Corn Tortilla with Black Beans, Avocado Mousse, Queso Fresco and Chives – $7.75
This is very hard to rip apart with your hand. The taco is so chewy, that when you’re trying to rip it apart, you can nearly lose the whole dish on your plate. We think that it’s terrible. The tostada is inedible, and definitely not fresh. The meat is bad and tastes like really bad counter service. The base of the taco makes it completely unpleasant. The cheese is the only thing that kind of saves this dish, but the rest of it tastes like it’s been sitting there for a long time. Pass on this.
*NEW* Taco de Costilla: Slow-braised Beef Short Rib on a Corn Tortilla with Salsa de Chile Morita, Avocado Mousse and Spring Onions – $8.00
The base is a soft tortilla, but even with a knife and fork, it proves difficult to cut. This is better than the tostada, but it still tastes like cheap fast food. It’s not worth the money. The meat is a little more tender, which is good, but we think Taco Bell would honestly be a better option if you want tacos for a good price point, considering these are more expensive and even lower quality than the fast food version.
*NEW* Pastel Imposible: Layers of Traditional Mexican Flan and Tres Leches with Guava and Cajeta – $6.00
This dish is very sauce-heavy, yet the cake is spectacular. It’s moist, very sweet, and full of flavor. The flan is fine, but it tastes like a standard flan. The basicness of the flan almost ruined how good the cake is, but as it stands, it’s worth getting.
*NEW* Trouble in Paradise Margarita: Ilegal Mezcal ($31/bottle), Combier Watermelon Liqueur ($30/bottle), Rosé Wine, Lime Juice and Agave with a Chili-Lime Powder Rim – $12.50
This is a drink that can easily separate. If you’re not going to drink it right away, you should stir it to make sure the contents are mixed together. It separated on us within five minutes of us ordering it. This is the most drinkable margarita that we’ve ever had from the Mexico booth. It’s not overly syrupy or sweet, and it doesn’t have a fake flavor. On the back end, you do get a bit of a spicy flavor, but it’s fruity and refreshing at the forefront. We tasted the rosé and watermelon flavor from the liqueur, which are very prominent. The chili-lime powder rim adds a salty quality to drink. It’s overpriced, but if you want a festival margarita, you should get it.
*NEW* Fly Away Margarita: Nocheluna Sotol ($68/bottle) , Pineapple-Ginger Juice, Chile Ancho Verde Liqueur ($40/bottle) and Ambhar Blanco Tequila ($42/bottle) with a Sweet Dried Chili Salt Rim – $13.00
This has a medicinal flavor to it. It tastes very earthy, like something you overwhelmingly shouldn’t drink. If you’re incredibly ill, don’t get this. The only okay thing about it is the salt rim, which is sad. Fly far away from this one.
