Salt & Straw to Open at Downtown Disney October 12th

Sure, there may not be a fourth resort hotel…but at least there’s ice cream!

Salt & Straw, the chain of small-batch ice cream parlors, will be opening its location at Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort this Friday, October 12th. Salt & Straw has several locations on the west coast, including Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles, and an outpost in New York City’s Daily Provisions Cafe. The Downtown Disney shop is the chain’s first location in Anaheim.

The design of the shop, done by Osmose Design’s Andee Hess, evokes a nostalgic feeling, reflecting Disney’s overall approach. The flavors themselves were revealed to The Orange County Register‘s Anne Valdespino. Included on the opening day roster are Double Fold Vanilla, Chocolate Gooey Brownie, and Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, as well as some Halloween-themed flavors. Overall, the idea is to bring the chain’s most popular flavors from across its locations to the new Disneyland spot. “We’ve pulled our top hits from all the cities and we’re putting them together,” Salt & Straw’ founder and CEO, Kim Malek, told the Register.

The shop was originally announced back in April as part of the multi-part transformation of the Downtown Disney area. So far, the refurbishment has included the opening of Splitsville Lanes, the refreshing of World of Disney and Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria, and the announcement of Ballast Point and Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer. Stay tuned for more information on the area’s transformation!

  1. Hopefully that is “Salt and Paper-Straw”…hate to exclude all the virtuous people by using the insidious plastic straw.
