PHOTO REPORT: Magic Kingdom 7/12/19 (Tomorrowland Entrance Sign, Mermaid Merchandise, Construction Updates, ETC.)

Another brutally hot and sunny day in Florida, another day that I forgot to put on sunscreen for a park walk around Magic Kingdom (insert face palm emoji here). Let’s check out what’s new in the Most Magical Place on Earth!

Okay, so first things first. We reported early this day that Magic Kingdom was preparing to remove the Tomorrowland entrance sign sometime this week with a redesigned sign set to be installed later this summer. I was planning to go check out the old sign today and take some pretty pictures for posterity, so imagine my surprise as I walked towards Tomorrowland only to discover that the sign was ALREADY GONE.

These giant boxes covering where the archways sat are all that remains of the old sign for now. We are expecting to see a newly designed sign go back up later this summer.

PeopleMover

Moving on into Tomorrowland (yes I still found my way, even with no sing to direct me), I hopped onto the PeopleMover for my usual grand circle tour of Tomrrowland to check on the construction progress of TRON Lightcycle Power Run.

That pile of dirt sitting right behind the Tomorrowland Speedway track keeps growing bigger and bigger.

It Looks like more supports for what will become the wall of the show building have been installed. Enjoy these views while they last before the show building ends up enclosing them all.

nautilus magnet

In Tomorrowland Light and Power Co., I came across this new addition to the lineup of D-Tech On Demand magnets, inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. You can grab this “My Other Ride is the Nautilus” magnet for $14.99.

little mermaid

We showed you the new Little Mermaid collection that arrived at Disneyland earlier this week, and the full collection seems to have made its way to the east coast in Big Top Souvenirs. Check out the full post to see every piece!

water cup

One of the best things Disney offers at all of its Quick Service restaurants is the free cups of water to keep you hydrated in the Florida heat and humidity. I noticed today that most of the Quick Service restaurants have switched from using the Disney branded and printed cups, to just these plain white ones. I’m just happy that Disney is still providing the free water, I don’t care what they serve it in, even if these white cups are a little less magic.

spring roll

In Adventureland, the spring roll cart was temporarily out of the new Pepperoni Pizza spring rolls, BUT, since we did our review, they are now served with a side of marinara sauce. The sauce probably considerably helps these overall dry spring rolls, and had there been some there, I might have given them another try.

pathway widening project

I checked in on the pathway widening project by Cinderella Castle. Progress has been ongoing, but you can see they’ve got a lot of concrete to pour and a lot of pathway to fill in between the edge of the previous pathway and where the new pathway is going to sit.

On the Fantasyland side of the pathway, they’ve finally fully blocked off the view of the pathway widening project with the hedges, so we might not be able to grab any more photos from this side of things. It does make for better show from the Guest perspective though.

That’s all for my day around Magic Kingdom today! Stay tuned to WDWNT for all of the latest updates, and as always, I’ll see ya real soon!

  1. Hello Tom and Team! I dont comment often…. almost never actually. However, I do visit the website multiple times per day to keep up on Disney news, and consider WDWNT my primary, and usually only, resource for the latest Disney news. I am a frequent Disney World visitor (annually at the least) and have also made it out to Disneyland 4 times as well. My friends and family usually get their latest Disney news from me, but that is 100% thanks to you! I have been visiting your website daily for at least 5 years, and maybe about 2 years back I commented that I love the site and all of the news and information it provides, but I wish there were more photo reports. Tom responded to me and said he was working on it. Lately there have been a lot more photo reports and it has not gone unnoticed! So I just wanted to say thank you and that I appreciate the new effort regarding frequent photo reports, including Disneyland as well lately. It is very helpful and satisfying to see photos and monitor progress visually. Thank you! Everyone is doing a great job! We are headed back in Feburary of 2020 for Star Wars and were elated to hear this morning that Rise of the Resistance will be open! Many thanks to everyone for your hard work! It’s an amazing resource and also helps keep my yearning to go back sooner at bay, because I get my daily dose of Disney right here at WDWNT. My kids and I always keep a look out for Tom on our trips…. as if he is a rare character to be seen….lol…. maybe we will get lucky on our February 2020 trip! Anyway, thank you and keep the good stuff coming!
