With the official opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge just weeks away, the transformation of Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues with the cast member costumes.

The themed costumes that cast members wore at certain attractions have been replaced with more generic outfits. These outfits debuted earlier this month at the park’s main entrance. We’ve seen this outfit so far at a number of attractions around the park.

Here’s what it looks like at Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams…

The list of places you can see these costumes also includes MuppetVision 3D, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, Walt Disney Presents, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, and Fantasmic.

Here’s what the previous costumes looked like at Disney Junior Dance Party and MuppetVision 3D.

Now, because we like to give our readers as much information as we can, you may have noticed some of these cast members wearing hats.

We’ve learned that these hats are optional for cast members to wear with their costume, and come in both gray and white. So now you know that if a cast member is wearing a hat… it’s because they felt like wearing a hat that day.

    • It’s just a CM uniform. If a CM uniform impacts on your visit that much you might need to reassess some things in your life.

      • I believe those costumes are just representative of a themed area. They don’t carry the immersive experiences seen in Galaxy’s Edge, the upcoming Runaway Railway, Tower of Terror, and even Toy Story sections. I am okay with the choices.

  1. Oh boy is Disney going in a wrong direction. Why not just change the name now to Six Flags over Orlando.

  2. Another cost saving decision by the Disney Company which takes away from the on-stage show IMO. It’s like the Disney DVC resort makeovers that feel very generic. :(

    • Cast members have never been allowed to have tattoos showing. But I agree, changing all the attraction costumes to the same generic costumes throughout really stinks on Disney’s part. Cast members with the Disney College Program have to turn in their costumes when their semester is over, they recycle the costumes so I don’t see how this has anything to do with cost effective. Seems more about Disney being Gender Neutral, which really sucks since the different attraction costumes in each park definitely enhanced the magic!

  3. That was how it was for the first 20 years… the teal”ish” green costume worn at the main entrance was used for stage show & parade audience control. Then “One Disney” happened and all of the main entrances had a single costume and all audience control had a costume (DL & WDW). Although this costume looks a bit more detailed than the original ones and can be left untucked. I’m happy to see DHS getting their own costumes back!

  4. With the exception of mermaid and Disney junior. All those attractions had the same costume back when I worked at DHS in 2007 and 2011-12.

  5. Yet another park gets generic costumes to simply save money and make it easier. Charge more, cut corners everywhere. Welcome to Disney World

  6. I just got back from my trip to WDW. I’m sure the poor cast members who were trapped in the very sudden downpour on one day of my trip at HS will be relived with this change since several utterly drenched cast members walked past me mortified as the white portions of their attire were transparent and the delightful family next to me loved pointing it out.

I honestly don’t know why people are complaining. They look nice and flattering whilst being practical and offering cast members choice. What is there to dislike about that? The fact that people are down voting the thoughts of a cast member who wears it and prefers it is mind boggling.
