With the upcoming release of “Frozen 2”, there’s been a flurry of new merchandise and snacks around the parks. We heard there was a new Anna and Elsa inspired treat at the Grand Floridian, so we decided we had to stop in and give it a try. After the Arendelle Aqua Eclair disaster, we had to give Gasparilla Island Grill another chance.

You can find this dessert in the bakery case at Gasparilla Island Grill, not far from the Arendelle Aqua Eclair they’re (unfortunately) still selling. This is a much better-looking dessert than the eclair, and for $3.29, it’s a much nicer price, too. Every image on the cookies in the case looked awful, and we lucked out with ours being pretty. All of the Cast Members we encountered at Gasparilla Island Grill were super helpful and went out of their way to answer our questions and even found us a picture-perfect cookie!

These shortbread cookies are filled with a maple buttercream and bits of pralines. It looks so good.

The cookies were good, and the buttercream was very light. Nothing was overly sugary or too sweet, which was a nice change of pace. The coloring on the cookie is beautiful, too. Finally, we’re getting a break from aqua. There is a lot of cookie, and not an overwhelming amount of frosting, so it is a bit dry. Just make sure you grab something to drink with it!

We don’t see enough cookie sandwiches around the resorts, so it would be nice to see more of these types of treats. It did turn my fingers orange and it looked like I’d been eating Cheetos, but that’s still better than black food coloring stains. Overall, this is a way better snack than the eclair, but the flavor just didn’t stand out enough to be memorable. We’d suggest you skip this one and head right to the Arendelle Aqua Cone at the Magic Kingdom instead.
