New Disney+ Update Adds “Continue Watching” Section to Interface After User Feedback

Since its bumpy launch earlier this month, Disney+ has worked on improving the user experience, from recoding elements of the app to iron out any glitches, to adding in standard features like Resume and Restart to individual show or movie pages.

Another recent update has added a much-requested section to the home screen of the streaming app, the “Continue Watching” section, where users can pick up where they left off on movies or series. You can find the section underneath the first or second section of other featured content. (Mine was buried beneath “Originals” and “Hit Movies.”)

Currently, the section still doesn’t show a status/progress bar under each episode or movie detailing how many minutes are left, but it seems the feature is still being worked on and rolled out to all versions of the app, as well as the DisneyPlus site.

Additional options, such as the “Autoplay” function, have yet to be enabled for the app, but were reportedly tested during the Netherlands beta launch.

What are other features you’d like to see on the Disney+ app? Are you still experiencing any glitches or errors? Let us know in the comments.

  1. My app shows the bar of how much of each episode has been watched and also has auto play like when I finished an episode of t
Three Cabelleros it counted down until the next one started in 20 seconds

    • I think she means a status bar under each episode (or show) thumbnail within the menu area as Netflix, Amazon and cable TV saved programs have.

  2. Jillian- What platform are you seeing autoplay on? Are you seeing an option in that platform to disable Autoplay? It was so luxurious to stream Mandolorian last night on Roku and be able to watch ALL of the credits and not worry about it going to the next episode.

  3. Got a Firestick 4k yesterday, installeed and ran D+ with no issues. Biggest complaint is that two of the main shows on Disney Jr. aren’t on D+ yet, Bluey and T.O.T.S, my kiddos were disappointed. Had to install Disney Now and sign into cable account to watch them. How does one put in show requests with D+?

    • I could be wrong about this, but I think if you already have a cable account that includes Disney Jr, those shows should be available on demand through your cable account without having to pay extra to watch them.
