If you have traveled to the Magic Kingdom lately via monorail, then you may have been met with the sight of the park’s entrance being under construction. As soon as you exit the monorail, metal barriers guide you around fencing where the construction is taking place. Where you once could look out and see the commemorative bricks that served as memories to many families through the years, you now can barely see in front of you. Nostalgia aside, we decided to check in today to see what progress has been made on the entrance since our last update.

As you can see, red pavement has been poured over almost half of the area. You can also spot the layout of steel rods that are used to reinforce concrete set up for the remaining sections.

If you were standing in front of the MagicBand kiosks facing the Main Street Railroad Station, this portion would be the one to your right.

If you continue to look right you will be met with this new metal structure being built. While we are still not positive what this is, it is most likely the new security checkpoint as the previous one was demolished in the renovation.

You can see the temporary security checkpoint set up to the left for guests arriving via bus.

I’m not going to lie and say I’m not going to miss the Walk Around the World bricks, but I am excited to see what the new entrance will bring us once it’s completed. After all, Walt Disney was all about progress so it’s only right that things keep changing. For now, you can look forward to the Magic Kingdom’s new arrival experience for the Resort’s 50th anniversary in 2021.

  1. Was there Oct 23-25, 2019. Our brick was still there but fenced off. We were able to take pictures. The brick was losing its luster but we have plenty of pictures for our memories. I do recall the contract stated 10 years, its been 25+. Paid $102 for it. Sorry to see it go but looking forward to the new look.

  2. I’m looking forward to seeing what the finished entrance will look like because right now it looks like they took the personalized bricks out and replaced them with plain red concrete.
