Now that the holiday decorations in the parks are complete, it’s on to the resorts! The latest resort to receive the Christmas treatment was the Wilderness Lodge. Holiday preparations started last week when a surprise gingerbread log cabin appeared in the lobby. The remaining Christmas decor was put into place yesterday, with the reveal of the full decorations happening today.
The massive Christmas tree stands in the center of the lobby. The tree’s decorations, with Native American and nature influences, play upon the rustic theme of Wilderness Lodge.
Lit tipis are nestled into the tree’s branches.
Moose antlers are also featured throughout the tree.
Bright lanterns showcase a deer’s silhouette.
These adorable owls are perched upon the branches, peeking out at guests.
We can’t get over how cute this squirrel is with his fluffy tail and little nose. JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE!
Wicker deer and trees wrapped in lights are above the lobby’s main entrance.
Lit garland is draped from the railing and ceiling beams at Whispering Canyon Cafe.
A festive wreath hangs above the fireplace.
Humphrey the Bear strings Christmas lights on the gingerbread log cabin.
A sign by the gingerbread lists how much of each ingredient was necessary to build the gingerbread house.
A Chip and Dale made out of modeling chocolate are nestled by one of the cabin’s back corners.
Garland lines the bridge that crosses the spring in the lobby.
Smaller Christmas trees are also found throughout the lobby.
They’re decorated in a similar rustic style as the lobby’s bigger tree.
This family of foxes was hidden on the backside of a smaller Christmas tree.
On the walk down to Roaring Fork, greenery is draped on the light fixtures lining the hallway.
These particular pieces are a bit reminiscent of the holiday decorations at Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom.

We’re coming in on Dec. 7, and I can’t wait! I’ve always wanted to see Disney in December.

My Christmas tree at home is decorated similar to this, inspired by the WL trees. I’ll be visiting the resort along with Ft W next month. Especially interested in the new gingerbread house.

Going down today to join my family already down there at Bay Lake Tower. Checking in later today at Copper Creek cabin!!!! for 3 whole nights. Can not wait! We have always loved Wilderness Lodge, especially at Thanksgiving/Christmas. we celebrate Thanksgiving at Disney every year (at least last 12 years) and usually eat at Whispering canyon. This year we are going to Liberty Tree instead as we are celebrating Wednesday so some of our party can head back home Thursday. New traditions with old!
