PHOTO REPORT: Disneyland Park 1/5/20 (Crowds, Long Wait Times, Country Bear Remnants, New Wishables, and More)

Hello everybody, we’re mighty glad to see you here at… Disneyland Park!

The Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations may be over, but crowds remain high. Today, we spent some time observing the park. Come follow along!

Main Street, U.S.A

Crowd control was out on Main Street, U.S.A. around noon.

While it didn’t seem too crowded then, these pathways become a disaster around parade time.

Central Plaza

hub dl

Many people mobbed the front of the castle to get a quick picture.

Taking the pathway around the castle is much more convenient during days like this. While walking under Sleeping Beauty Castle is always special, avoid crowds by going around.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

swge dl

We didn’t see many people walking into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge around 1 p.m.

Not too crowded!

Crowds started to condense near Black Spire Outfitters.

This is one of my favorite little creatures you can find in the marketplace.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities was packed, with many people lining up to check out the lightsabers.

This lil guy is always fun to watch, as well.

This view never gets old. While there isn’t too much going on over here right now, Rise of the Resistance will be open come January 17. Then, the force will be strong with all.

figaro dl

Figaro was not operating for a few weeks. But his head, eyes and mouth all move again.

alice in wonderland

Fantasyland crowds were high. Alice in Wonderland sat at a 40-minute wait around 3 p.m.

fantasyland dl

Matterhorn Bobsleds had an 80-minute wait, with people waiting outside the entrance.

fantasylandsleeping beauty castle

We were able to take in the snowy castle before she defrosts.

snow whites grotto

Over on the right side of the castle, Snow White Grotto sits peacefully.

These marble figurines were gifted to Walt Disney from Italy. They’re beautiful, but every statue is roughly the same height — which presented a problem: Snow White had to be taller. Walt Disney Company artist John Hench took on the task of displaying these statues using forced perspective, making our favorite princess seem taller. You can see Snow White and one of her forest friends right above the waterfall.

Snow White Grotto can be seen today on the right side of Sleeping Beauty Castle, as well at Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Critter Country

Today, the wait for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was only five minutes.

This attraction was formerly The Country Bear Jamboree, which can be seen at Tokyo Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Pooh sits in a hunny pot, which formerly was a swing for Teddi Barra.

When leaving that scene, make sure you look behind you to see Max, Buff and Melvin, who were also a part of The Country Bear Jamboree.

The queue for the ride is one of my favorites. It’s simple but themed well.

Pooh was out meeting with guests.

Even though the temperature has been dropping, Splash Mountain still had over an hour wait.

Let’s take a look at whats happening in Pooh Corner.

All the new Disney Pet Tails merchandise is available here, including the original Monsters Inc. items.

The new wishables park icon line is also available.

sweets poohs corner

To make it even better, sweet snacks are also available.

“Showdown at The Golden Horseshoe” still plays daily at Disneyland. Inside the saloon, the dueling piano players challenge one another in a good ol’ fashioned showdown in the new interactive show.

We checked out Hyperspace Mountain, as this overlay will leave soon and return to its pre-Star Wars state.

It will close January 7 for refurbishment.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue recently opened a single rider line to accommodate more guests throughout the day. While this attraction is not one of the most popular stops for guests, the wait has sometimes been over an hour over the past few days.

IMG 3381.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&fit=scale&h=750&ixlib=php 1.2

Autopia had a 20-minute wait around 6 p.m.

Mickey’s Toontown

IMG 3476.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&fit=scale&h=750&ixlib=php 1.2

We wanted to take in the last bit of the holiday decorations in Mickey’s Toontown while they are still up.

The lighting package in this area is my favorite.

IMG 3480.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&fit=scale&h=750&ixlib=php 1.2

We have been looking for any signs of development on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Nothing yet.

IMG 3434.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&fit=scale&h=750&ixlib=php 1.2

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin had no wait around 8 p.m. This queue is probably my favorite in the park. While it’s goofy, it fits the attraction so well and is eye-catching.

  1. I loved seeing the hidden creatures at Star Wars Land. I think everyone knows about the Snow White statues and the Country Bear Jamboree heads, so it’s nice to see other details of the park.
