We recently spotted a roaming R2-D2 out on the West Coast, exploring Batuu. We’ve been long awaiting roaming, interactive droids on Batuu here at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and maybe we’re getting a little bit closer.
We’ve seen R2-D2 casually exploring the small area of the Droid Depot here, but he recently relocated to Launch Bay Cargo, where he seems to be getting along quite nicely. We assume this is due to the smaller crowds visiting Star Wars Launch Bay compared to Galaxy’s Edge, which gives him a little more room to explore. While we have seen him roaming a bit in the store, we came across him exploring the area outside of Launch Bay Cargo today, near the Animation Courtyard stroller parking. Everyone was excited to see him!
He was very excited to see us, too. He was more than happy to approach guests and take photos.
He even got a few hugs and kisses from his fans!
Not only did he explore the area outside, he made his way into the store and navigated the crowds to meet even more guests inside.

Guy in the Black hat, Sunglasses and Black Shirt had a Radio behind his back, you can see it for a Split second as he walked through the doors, good interaction though, we need more of this in Galaxy edge
