“Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” Stage Show Ending Soon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

With Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance now boarding guests and all phases of Galaxy’s Edge now open, it seems that Star Wars presence throughout the rest of Disney’s Hollywood Studios will slowly begin to diminish. Disney has confirmed that the “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” show will be ending its long run soon.

No official end date has been announced, but it’s believed that with the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway on March 4, it would be ideal to have the area in front of the Chinese Theatre cleared for any potential crowds. We expect the stage show to conclude its run by then. (Currently, times are still showing through March 14, but entertainment calendars are prone to change.)

Since 2016, the stage show has showcased Star Wars characters, movies, and music, with updates added throughout the years to introduce new characters, like Rey, in 2017. On July 6, 2019, the show’s companion “parade” element, the March of the First Order with Captain Phasma, concluded in preparation for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. Disney claimed that the First Order was “redeploying their troops to patrol Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.”

Kylo Ren has been out maintaining order in Batuu.

With the presence of Star Wars diminished throughout the rest of the park, there is hope that additional entertainment offerings will be added to Galaxy’s Edge, like the roaming droids that have been on the backburner since the land opened, or even additional roaming characters and extended stage shows. (Currently, Kylo Ren makes a few appearances throughout the day to briefly force choke a First Order officer, but that’s about it.)

What do you think of the conclusion of “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away”? Let us know in the comments.

  1. After Star Wars a Galaxy far far away ends Hopefully they will bring back the Dance Party on the Center Stage in front of the Chinese Theatre.

  2. Went to Galaxy’s Edge last week for the first time. While I enjoyed the incredible detail of the land itself, I found it severely lacking in characters. Saw a total of 4 stormtroopers and Rey made a very brief appearance. No Chewie or Kylo. The land seems somewhat incomplete without more characters. Roaming droids and aliens would be very welcomed.

    • I agree GE needs more entertainment. Hopefully they will increase characters in Galaxy’s Edge once this show is gone.

  3. Skipped it after watching youtube videos. A few glimpses on the way to somewhere else confirmed my opinion that I didn’t want to take the time to see it. As always, YMMV. (It does allow you to see the characters more quickly than waiting in line for each of them, but then the meet-and-greets are one-on-one with pictures plus you can choose to see just your favorite characters also.)

  4. I would love to see the Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away show be moved to Galaxy’s Edge (in some capacity) and continue. I especially liked their evening spectacular before park close. It would be sad to loose both.

  5. I think this show ending is a good and a bad thing its a good thing because it will free up the entertainment budget but its bad because it had poor reviews I mean Disney is doing a good thing because they are freeing the entertainment budget and I think thats a good idea by Disney Themselves!

  6. From what I’ve seen, people really enjoy that show. It’ll be sad to see it go, my kids always want to stop and watch when we pass by it going on. Hopefully they will increase characters in Galaxy’s Edge, I’ve seen many characters there but only because we’ve been there probably 20 times or so. It would be nice to see that stage utilized more in the First Order area, seems like they may have planned some shows and didn’t follow through on it. We personally have not seen interacting droids at all, but sounds like a nice idea.

  7. My 4yr old loves the show almost as much as I do. What will happen to my favorite character Boba Fett? Really hope he can be on a rotating meet and greet. Will be sad the next time I go, not to see him.
