Good morning from a bright and sunny Magic Kingdom! We are relishing our last few days here before Walt Disney World closes temporarily until April, but let’s not think about that, on to the fun new stuff!
The first sight to greet us was Cinderella Castle mid-makeover. It’s disappointing to have cranes in all our beautiful castle selfies, but the work they are doing is incredible! The vibrant new blue of the roofs is perfect, and just today, they started on the body of the castle.
The new pink and gold color scheme has been revealed on the side of the Castle, which you can see here around the top window and the bottom of the turret on the right. Which do you prefer, the original grey or the new pink? Click here to see lots more photos of the new work on Cinderella Castle.
While we were perusing merchandise in the Emporium, we found this new line of tank tops featuring the dynamic duo themselves, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. With several colors to choose from all featuring this holographic foil design, we thought these made the perfect addition to our summer park wardrobe.
Several attractions have been having difficulties in the Magic Kingdom lately. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover was down today for the fifth consecutive day, and with the temporary closure of Walt Disney World just over 24 hours away, we sadly don’t expect to see it come back up until after the parks reopen.
Splash Mountain also went down, but only briefly. Several boats were seen backed up waiting to unload.
Hot on the heels of its unplanned closure for four days earlier this month, Haunted Mansion was down today as well. What started as a delayed opening for technical difficulties eventually turned in to an all-day affair.
Speaking of spooky things, this previously-exclusive sipper has materialized at the popcorn stand on the right side of the Hub. This Jack Skellington sipper was previously an event-exclusive piece for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. You can purchase him along with the Steamboat Willie Minnie Mouse popcorn bucket while supplies last.
Instead of a “Look Up” for you today, we have a “Look Down.” While you most likely know where this beautiful work of art is, we wanted to take a moment to admire it. These large pieces on the ground are often at least partially obscured by guests enjoying their magical day, and we were excited to be able to take this picture this morning while waiting for breakfast. What’s your favorite often-passed-by part of the park?
Over in the corner in between Casey’s Corner and the First Aid and Baby Care Center, there is some construction underway. On one side you can see past the construction zone into a backstage area.
On the other side, an excavator has been brought in and significant work has been done to this area, which was previously a walkway and a small amount of seating.
On our way out, we found this cute Minnie Mouse plush crossbody purse. What better way to keep your essentials always at hand? You can find her at Town Square Theater for $24.99.
That’s it for today folks. We hope you had a great time coming along with us. Have a great rest of your day, and remember, there’s always a great, big beautiful tomorrow!
The boat back log happened at the Villian’s party too. We were 7 deep waiting to go up the big drop for worse from there
