As evidenced by ever-increasing testing of new queues, theater seating, and more, Disney Parks in Asia are now well on their way to reopening given the drop in COVID-19 cases throughout.

While character dining reopened earlier at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel’s Lumiere’s Kitchen back in March, Mickey and friends have now returned to the Enchanted Garden Restaurant at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

The characters greet guests under special arrangements in order to maintain social distancing between guests, Cast Members, and characters.

Characters travel through the restaurant at specified times, but guests are not permitted to make contact, instead taking photos from their tables as the characters pose from a safe distance.

From April 30 to May 3, 2020, the Enchanted Garden Restaurant at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will offer “all you can eat” lunch and dinner. Guests will be able to enjoy lunch from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM or dinner from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Other recent updates include the latest work on the Castle of Magical Dreams transformation, as well as the temporary closure of the Disneyland Resort Line until further notice. Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is currently open under limited operations.

In the coming months, it’s likely we’ll be seeing similar tests set up across Walt Disney World Resort in order to comply with the guidelines that are being established for Phase 1 and Phase 2 reopenings.

All Disney Parks remain closed until further notice due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

  1. I’m not trying to be a buzz kill here because maintaining the social distancing guidelines is important, but is it really worth trying to have a character dining experience under these conditions? I would think that a toddler might feel teased that they can see their favorite character but can not go up and hug them. It’s kind of like seeing Santa at the mall but not being able to sit on his lap to personally tell him what you want him to bring that year. Gee, I just thought about that, what are poor kids going to do at Christmas time? Very sad 😞.
