With Limited Edition merchandise releases still relegated to shopDisney for the time being (despite the reopening of Pin Traders at Disney Springs and Pin Central at EPCOT), pin collectors have been logging on promptly at 10:00 AM (ET) / 7:00 AM (PT) every Thursday unless otherwise noted to obtain their pins.
However, at 10:00 AM this morning, none of the pins that were scheduled to be released today appeared on the website:
Despite these pins being openly advertised throughout the month leading up to the release, Cast Members manning the shopDisney help line stated that “there was not supposed to be a pin drop this morning”, leaving guests confused about the usual Thursday pin release, which takes place nearly every week of the month.
In an update from the Disney Pins Blog, it appears the pins will be released tomorrow (7/31) instead, at the same 10:00 AM (ET) / 7:00 AM (PT) time frame. The pins are still seen advertised as dropping today, July 30 on the shopDisney site.
Since the closure of the theme parks, Disney Parks merchandise fans have bemoaned the numerous issues they’ve run into with shopDisney, be it in the form of glitches, immediately sold-out merchandise, and more.
Remember that Disney Pin Trading will still occur at the theme parks, but only at select locations, and with pin boards. Cast Members will not be wearing lanyards or squares to trade with guests at this time to maintain physical distancing.
They really need to get their stuff together.
