It was hardly a zip-a-dee-doo-dah morning in Frontierland today at the Magic Kingdom, as less than 30 minutes from park opening, Splash Mountain was down for the count.

At 9:20 AM, it was a normal (busy-ish) Sunday morning at the Magic Kingdom, with Splash Mountain already posting a 45 minute wait.

By 9:30 however, logs began to pile up after the third drop before going through the finale scene.

A few minutes later, Cast Members were seen helping evacuate Guests from the attraction.

While the rest of the attraction was fully evacuated, one log was stuck in the middle of the water near the front of the mountain, stranding the guests inside.

After 20 minutes, Cast Members returned with bottled water, we hope it won’t be too much longer for these stranded guests!

These guests were eventually evacuated as well. The attraction is currently listed as Temporarily Closed on My Disney Experience.

Splash Mountain has faced a difficult summer; from long lines, extended downtime, and even sinking ride vehicles. Hopefully, smoother days are ahead, as the attraction is experiencing increased attention and popularity due to the upcoming Princess and the Frog re-theme.

For all things Splash Mountain and more, keep up with WDWNT on Facebook and Twitter.

    • I hope not, but I can’t say the same thought has not crossed my mind too. But if they use that for an excuse, then they will need to take down Ride of the Resistance too and re-theme it to Oliver and Company.

I hope all the loss of income and soaring popularity allow them to change their mind and leave Splash Mountain as is (at least the Disney World version)!

    • I hope they fix this crap before princess and the frog. Im waiting for my favorite movie to be shown not made to be an epic failure

    • I was a CP at Splash back in 2006 and it went down and was evacuated fairly regularly even then. I remember doing three evacuations in one day once. Splash is just a bit temperamental. It has nothing to do with the retheming.

  1. Renaming, rebranding, redskinning, whatever you call it, IS JUST BAD CARMA… when you finish the job, it (operation and problems) will only get worse and the whole mountain will come crashing down…stop the process and leave it alone…

  2. It is sad how they keep raising the admission price, but the rides keep breaking down and putting the customers in danger. I know that is not what Walt Disney had in mind.

  3. This happened to us on pirates. We were in the one small area that couldn’t be evacuated so we sat there for over 2 hours. Thankfully they turned off the music and turned on the lights. Gave us a few ride passes and meal vouchers as compensation.
