We bring you a lot of stories every single day. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up. So in case you missed anything from our feed, we have rounded up all our stories in one place to get the news at a glance. Here is your Daily Recap for Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- Since we last checked on the Magic Kingdom toll plaza’s refurbishment, the castle icon on the marquee has been painted in pastel rainbow colors
- Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat have both closed for a months-long refurbishment at the Magic Kingdom, and new updates to the Walt Disney World park calendar show that both projects have now been extended through February 28, past the initial January 2 end date
EPCOT
- The Spaceship Earth refurbishment and reimagining was put on pause for the reopening of EPCOT, but it seems it’s ramping back up again, with new permits filed for work on the “grand and miraculous” attraction
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- After Plexiglass dividers were installed on every ride vehicle of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, additional dividers have also since been added to pre-show rooms, and we also have a very “special” look at what it’s like to be behind plexiglass for the entirety of the ride
- Normally, slots in the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance fill up within literal seconds… but today, there were still Boarding Groups available up until 10:08 AM and yet by 12:30PM, the attraction had not started boarding
- Later in the afternoon when Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance began operating, we noticed that the prisoner transport ride vehicles are now seating two parties per ride vehicle
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- The last of the few of the iconic crossbeams left on the roof of the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort have been removed, now with even the supports gone and the roof bare
Other Walt Disney World News
- Late Tuesday night, news broke of the next wave of Cast Member layoffs at Walt Disney World as all Seasonal and Part-Time characters and performers were let go, regardless of tenure, including acts nearly as old as Walt Disney World itself, and we have compiled a full list of all the layoffs from yesterday
- Today, Actors’ Equity Association has released a statement regarding the mass entertainment layoffs at Walt Disney World giving specific numbers to the latest wave
Disneyland Paris
- Due to spikes in COVID-19 cases across France and other parts of Europe, it was posited that Disneyland Paris may well see itself affected by new lockdown measures in the region resulting in another drastic cut in operating hours or days, or potentially shut down the parks altogether for the next month
- Then later in the afternoon, the closure was confirmed to begin on October 30 and will continue at least until December 1
New Merchandise
- The latest Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction collection is inspired by The Haunted Mansion, and we were on hand for the debut at Magic Kingdom this morning for the exclusive Annual Passholder shopping event at Sir Mickey’s
