BREAKING: Disney CEO Bob Chapek Hints at Reduction (and Even Possible Removal) of Face Mask Policy at Walt Disney World

During today’s quarter 2 earnings call for The Walt Disney Company, CEO Bob Chapek addressed the new guidance from the CDC and Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis concerning the use of face masks by fully vaccinated guests.

…today’s guidance that we got from the CDC in terms of those that were vaccinated do not necessarily need to wear masks anymore, both outdoors and indoors, is very big news for us, particularly if anybody’s been in Florida in the middle of the summer with a mask on. That could be quite daunting. So we think that’s going to make for an even more pleasant experience.”

Bob Chapek

While Chapek did not give any timeframes for any change to the mask policy, he does seem to be indicating that it is on the horizon. This statement comes on the heels of yesterday’s announcement that Walt Disney World will slowly be reducing physical distancing requirements of six feet.

  1. Meanwhile, children under 12 can’t get vaccinated yet. That would be awfully irresponsible to remove mask and distance requirements first.

  2. Please let this be true! The thought of touring the parks next month with a mask on just sounds miserable.

  3. For sure it is past time to lift the mask mandate!!!!! Adults have had ample opportunity to get vaccinated. Vaccination time slots are going unused. Some people are never going to get vaccinated. It’s time to quit penalizing those of us who chose to get vaccinated by still requiring a mask. We have done our part to protect ourself. It’s time for others to take responsibility for their own health. Masking should be a choice not a mandate!!!! Let’s go and have fun at Walt Disney World once again!!! If you are concerned about your child under the age of 12 not being vaccinated then it’s not time for you to go visit Disney yet. If your child is between the ages of 12 and 15 and you are concerned about them contracting Covid then you need to be registering them for a timeslot to get vaccinated prior to visiting. This is not a major illness for most children. You need to make the decision for your family and children. But please don’t expect the rest of us to continue to wear masks for you! I do not expect you to wear a mask for me!! Wearing a mask should be a choice not a mandate at Disney or any other place!!!!

  4. What about people who have antibodies from The live virus vs pharmaceutical antibodies. Where’s our mask mandate lift?

  5. The majority of the country, therefore the majority of the guests at WDW, are still not vaccinated yet. And probably will not be for quite some time, despite how many cash incentives are thrown at them. Not trusting unvaccinated people to follow CDC guidelines and wear masks. If they followed medical guidelines, they would be vaccinated in the first place.

  6. Thank you science! Keep getting your shots so we can kill this off once and for all! This only works if we all do this before immunity begins wearing off.

  7. The CDC said fully vaccinated people can remove their masks. How will Disney know who is fully vaccinated and who is not?
