Many changes are afoot at Disney’s Contemporary Resort as refurbishments continue; tarps have been removed from the building’s exterior, curtains are up around The Wave… of American Flavors, and the Front Desk has been temporarily relocated to the 2nd floor.
While the rooms of Disney’s Contemporary Resort are rethemed to “The Incredibles,” tarps have been blocking some of the exterior windows from view. The tarp has now been removed. We had a perfect, unobstructed view of this beauty from the Monorail.
Crew members were visible on several different balconies, though we couldn’t get a glimpse of any new Incredibles theming.

Once inside the ground floor, several “pardon our appearance” signs are scattered throughout for the lobby’s refurbishment.

Another sign advises guests that the front desk, including check-in and concierge, has relocated to the second floor between 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.

It appears some Cast Members are at the check-in counter on the first floor, however.

Seating remains available to guests in the lobby as well.

The former entrance to The Wave is now covered in black curtains as its reimagining has begun.

Fear not, though, as you can still access a delicious breakfast meal from The Wave upstairs now at California Grill.

Here you can see the new check-in area now being utilized on the second floor.
The upper floors are still completely blocked from view with tarps.

What a huge mistake Disney made by trying to combine the Incredibles with Contemporary. The Contemporary Resort should have been restored with the older characters but with a splash here and there. Now that would be in the realm of the Contemporary Resort. My opinion. Wish we had a voice in this. Incredible belong to the space area or AS Movies. They are NOT classy or contemporary.
The forced infusion of IP that is disconnected with the overall theme is certainly a mistake. Just look at Mary Poppins at the GF. While it will resonate with some Guests, it’s ultimate NOT what the majority wants. But when has Disney really cared about what the majority wants, anyway? Case in point, the Splash Mountain re-theme.
