UPDATE: Hurricane Ian Continues Path Towards Florida, Walt Disney World & Universal Orlando Resort Very Likely To Be Impacted

According to an update from the National Hurricane Center on Monday, Hurricane Ian seems on path to impact operations at Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort here in Central Florida.

The latest track has it making landfall along the panhandle of Florida early Friday morning as a hurricane. Florida remains in a State of Emergency as the state prepares for the storm.

Tropical Storm and Hurricane Watches are now in effect for the west coast of the state, but it is expected that they will be announced for Central Florida later today.

Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando are renowned for ensuring guest and Cast Member safety during hurricanes and other extreme weather. At this moment, neither resort has announced any operational changes, but guests can contact them by phone if they would like to make changes to their impacted vacations. Be forewarned that hold times will be much longer than usual due to high call volumes.

  1. I am sure wdw will say something eventually universal do not hold your breathe they do not care for anyone! Schools are closed wont be long now.

    • Love the positive response. Not true. They do care. They did in fact close for Hurricane Irma. Told all guests to stay in rooms. Brought boxed food for guests to eat.

  2. Cindy, what schools are closed? I haven’t seen anything yet. Also, US has limited when PH can use their HHN ticket and this was the last week, wondering if they will extend.
