A new dress inspired by the Matterhorn at Disneyland is now available at Tren-D at the Marketplace Co-op at Disney Springs.
Matterhorn Dress – $148.00
This Matterhorn-inspired dress is a contemporary twist on the traditional dirndl worn by women and girls in the German-speaking Alps. The dress pays tribute to the Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction located at Fantasyland at Disneyland Park.
The dirndl features a full, gathered skirt paired with a snug bodice. Typically, the bodice and skirt are often contrasting colors, however, this version is all done in a soft Alpine green. Instead of a separate white blouse, this dress has the blouse sewn into the garment. This modern version of the dirndl updates the classic style with a fresh design that is likely more comfortable in the Florida heat than the layered style.
The green bodice of this dress is adorned with colorful Alpine flowers in shades of red, white, and periwinkle, with contrasting green foliage. The flowers are placed on either side of the bodice, adding a decorative touch to the garment.
The white blouse portion of the dress can be seen in the three-quarters length sleeves and at the top around the neckline of the dress. Both the sleeves and neckline are made from dotted swiss. The neckline also includes a bit of lace at the top.
This dress features billowy dotted Swiss sleeves with lace trim at the hem. White gathered elastic, resembling a garter, can be found near the bottom of the sleeves, adding a playful touch to the garment.
The dress is adorned with seven decorative gold-toned buttons, each featuring a flower design.
The dress features a red ribbon around the waist, traditionally found on a dirndl, which can be tied into a bow for a touch of extra decoration.
Unlike many other dresses from The Dress Shop label, this one has a more subtle design, with only subtle nods to the Disney attraction. Other dresses from the brand often feature more obvious references to Disney. This dress has a more understated, yet still charming, approach to the theme.
Large, colorful flowers are found throughout the skirt with variations of flowers found in Switzerland.
The skirt of the dress is adorned with a variety of flowers in shades of white, blue, orange, and red, including forget-me-nots, lilies, and astor-like flowers. The display is completed with variegated green foliage. The floral design adds a pop of color and a touch of nature to the garment.
The design of this dress includes a subtle reference to the Matterhorn. Have you had the opportunity to see it yet?
The Matterhorn attraction is depicted among the flowers on the skirt of the dress. This version of the mountain has a brown base with white snow accents, rather than being entirely snow-covered like the actual attraction. The signature waterfall of the attraction can also be seen on one side. The bottom of the mountain is adorned with the remnants of a castle. This design adds a playful nod to the famous attraction.
The dress is lined with a soft, red fabric.
The back of the dress features the same floral design as the front, extending around the skirt. The bodice, on the other hand, has simple decorations, creating a contrast between the two areas.
The top of the back of the yoke has delicate embroidery of red and silver flowers, as well as white diamonds. The dress is finished with a hidden zipper closure. The embroidery adds a touch of elegance to the garment.
