Disney’s Fantasmic!

Fantasmic! is a water-based nighttime spectacular show that combines live action, animation, pyrotechnics, and special effects. The show is performed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

The show tells the story of Mickey Mouse, who dreams he is a powerful sorcerer. He uses his magic to create a world of fantasy and adventure, complete with classic Disney characters, villains, and music across several scenes. The show begins with Mickey Mouse relaxing by the river, when he is transported to a magical world. He meets classic Disney characters along the way, and he must use his magic to battle evil villains.

Fantasmic! will be closed for maintenance May 1-2.

The show is a visually stunning spectacle, using water screens, pyrotechnics, and special effects to delight guests. It lasts about 25 minutes and in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it has more than one showing during busy seasons to help with crowds. The entrance is on Sunset Boulevard.

Through April 22, Fantasmic! is being performed at 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. each night. The second showtime was added late last year.

The show is wheelchair accessible, but is not recommended for guests who are sensitive to loud noises or bright lights.

Fantasmic! History

Fantasmic! was first performed at Disneyland in Anaheim, California in 1992. The show was a success, and it was soon brought to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1998.

The idea for this nighttime spectacular was first conceived in the early 1980s by Walt Disney Imagineering. The show was intended to be a permanent fixture at Disneyland, but it was put on hold due to budget constraints. In the early 1990s, the idea for Fantasmic! was revived. The show finally premiered at Disneyland on May 1, 1992.

The show has been updated several times over the years, and it continues to be a popular attraction at both parks. In 2017, Fantasmic! underwent a major overhaul at Disneyland. The show was completely redesigned, and it now features newer scenes, music, and effects. In 1998, the show was brought to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort, and in 2005, Fantasmic! was updated with new scenes and effects in the Florida location. After the pandemic closure, Fantasmic! did not reopen in Disney’s Hollywood Studios until November of 2022. The 2022 updated version includes new scenes and technical upgrades.
