Summer House on the Lake is beginning to look less like a construction site and more like a restaurant. The new Disney Springs dining venue is scheduled to open this year, although a date has not been announced.
Summer House on the Lake Construction
White paneling now covers the edges of the layered roof.
Temporary yellow fencing is around the roof while construction continues.
The building is looking more polished, although still not complete. This dip in the edge of the the roof overhang is where the Summer House on the Lake sign will be.
Gray brickwork paneling was installed on some walls of the building back in June.
These brick sections probably surround the restaurant’s kitchen.
There is an open-air seating area facing the lake.
Of course, we don’t know if it will remain open-air, but we did notice new roller shades hanging in the otherwise empty window frames.
These suggest the windows can be easily closed or covered depending on sunlight and rain.
On the front of the building, a curved section juts out towards Jaleo.
The edge of this curved overhang is now black.
Along the front wall, actual glass windows have been installed.
The awning’s ceiling and columns will eventually be covered in paneling.
The wooden frame at the center front will be a white trellis covered in plants.
Compare these photos to the concept art below.
Around the side of the building, facing Exposition Park, is the last of the scaffolding.
More brickwork and windows have been installed over here, too.
Summer House on the Lake
Summer House on the Lake was announced in the summer of 2022, taking over the space formerly planned for Beatrix Restaurant. Disney and Lettuce Entertain You had previously announced that Beatrix was merely “on hold,” but it seems they decided not to go forward with that particular project. Lettuce Entertain You is the owner of both Beatrix and Summer House Santa Monica, which are both considered Chicago staples.
Concept art of the interior matches the exterior.
