The walkway connecting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently closed due to construction of the new Disney Vacation Club tower at the former resort.
Resort Walkway Closed
There are A-frame signs up at the ends of the walkways indicating they are closed.
The signs indicate no pedestrians are allowed beyond this point, although there were no temporary fences set up (yet).
From the Monorail, we could see the walkway.
We did spot cones and temporary fencing further down.
Here is the sign at the other end of the walkway, at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
There are multiple signs saying “Construction workers and Cast only,” so guests have plenty of opportunities to turn around.
Disney hasn’t stated when the walkway will reopen.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of Walt Disney World’s original hotels, opening alongside the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Contemporary Resort on October 1, 1971. It’s situated on the Monorail loop that connects the Magic Kingdom to the hotels surrounding the Seven Seas Lagoon, and, like all hotels on the loop, is classified as a deluxe resort.
The resort underwent a refurbishment in 2021, with the standard rooms receiving “Moana” theming and the Disney Vacation Club Studios receiving “soft goods” refurbishments (the upholstery, art, and related accompaniments were the only elements updated). The Kona Cafe opened after extensive renovations in late 2022, with upholstery and rugs being updated in the lobby of the resort’s Great Ceremonial House a few months later.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Refurbishment
Former CEO Bob Chapek began a major overhaul of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa when he took over the Parks & Resorts division in 2015. The updates began with the “Beauty and the Beast”-themed Enchanted Rose Lounge, which replaced Mizner’s Lounge. Cítricos followed with a new “Mary Poppins”-inspired design. When the Grand Floridian Spa reopened in January 2022, it too had been remodeled.
Narcoossee’s was closed from June 2022 to April 2023, and reopened with a revamped interior and “land and sea” menu. Read our Narcoossee’s review here.1900 Park Fare, the character dining buffet location at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, is still closed for refurbishment. The restaurant has not reopened since it closed in March 2020 with the rest of Walt Disney World Resort due to COVID-19.
Disney confirmed that the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be refurbished but “will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.” Construction vehicles were recently in the lobby for work on guest floor balconies, but that construction has wrapped up.
