Items from the second chapter of Ravensburger’s Disney Lorcana trading card game — titled Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn — will potentially be available at Walt Disney World Resort on November 17, the same day the new chapter launches at local game stores.
Cast Members at World of Disney in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs indicated to us that Disney Lorcana items will be available on November 17 while speaking with them earlier this week.
Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn May Be Available at Walt Disney World Resort November 17
The tidbit from Cast Members comes after the first chapter of Disney Lorcana was not released at Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resorts on August 18, the day it initially launched at local game stores, the Disney Store in Times Square, and at Disneyland Paris. The initial unavailability came after the game’s creative director suggested that Disney Lorcana would launch at all Disney Parks on August 18; items from the game did not arrive at Walt Disney World Resort until August 28.
Additional Disney Lorcana items may be joining Rise of the Floodborn cards on the World of Disney shelves on November 17, assuming packs from the chapter are available. TheGamer.com editor Eric Switzer tweeted on November 16 that Disney100 Edition Disney Lorcana cards will launch alongside Rise of the Floodborn products at local game stores, Disney Parks, and at the Disney Store in Times Square on November 17. At the time of posting, this has not been confirmed by Walt Disney World.
The collector’s edition, initially unveiled in September, contains alternate versions of six cards from both Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter and Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn. The cards feature never-before-seen artwork drawn by Walt Disney Animation Studios animators.
Disneyland Paris has already confirmed that Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn booster packs will be available at The Storybook Store on November 17. Rise of the Floodborn products and the Disney100 special edition of the game will be released at general retailers on December 1.
Disney Lorcana
Disney Lorcana launched earlier this year to great audience reception and demand. Both physical and digital retailers initially had difficulty keeping product on the shelves, prompting Ravensburger to announce that it will reprint cards from “The First Chapter” early next year in an effort to meet demand. The reprints will be identical to the originally issued cards in an attempt to lower inflated resale costs and provide enough product to reach everyone who wants to play.
The game was also well received by critics, earning a top-20 spot on Good Housekeeping’s Best New Toys 2023 list. Disney Lorcana will become available in 10 new countries in 2024.
Disney Lorcana’s second chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, will contain 204 cards. You can preview them all here.
A third chapter of Disney Lorcana is set to release early next year. Check out our recent interview with seven different Disney Lorcana artists here:
