The completed World Celebration at EPCOT — including CommuniCore Hall and Dreamers Point — will officially open in December. As the project nears completion, construction walls have been shifted back a few feet, revealing new concrete and widening pathways.

World Celebration Construction

On the World Nature side of the park, near CommuniCore Hall, construction walls have moved, revealing some gray and beige sections of concrete next to the old reddish-pink pavement.

CommuniCore Hall features Spaceship Earth-inspired paneling and will include a permanent Mickey & Friends meet and greet space.

We noticed more walls pushed back near the bridge leading to World Showcase.

This reveals some similar gray and beige concrete.

We can see that same completed concrete from the Walt Disney World Monorail. We can also see into the center of World Celebration, where planters and patterns on the pavement create the EPCOT logo.

White lighting fixtures throughout the area are about the same height as trees. During this recent visit, we saw crew members working on and around a new sign.

The center of the park will be full of gardens. Directly behind Spaceship Earth will be Dreamers Point with the new Walt the Dreamer statue.

Slanted white columns with stage lighting are around CommuniCore Plaza.

Final exterior paneling still needs to be installed on some of CommuniCore Hall and the awnings that jut out from it around the Plaza.

More plants will be installed in the dirt-filled planters around the Plaza.

Tall trees separate the Plaza from the pathway that is currently on the other side of construction walls.

“Luminous: The Symphony of Us,” the new EPCOT nighttime spectacular will debut in just over a week, on December 5, 2023. Disney will theoretically want World Celebration done around the same time, but it looks like CommuniCore Hall still needs a lot of work, so it may be a few more weeks before it’s ready.

Meanwhile, crews are still finishing landscaping around the water station for Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana.”

The attraction is open and operating, with the water station itself complete, but construction continues around it.

This area won’t be accessible to guests but is obviously visible from the Monorail.

Playground Construction

Close to Journey Into Imagination with Figment, work finally began on this flex space area in August. Since then, we’ve been seeing short concrete walls pop up behind the construction walls.

Now pavement has been installed between some of the walls.

We don’t know what exactly is planned for this area as Disney hasn’t made any announcements.

Construction suggests it won’t be a new playground, but it’s hard to be sure at this stage.

Pavement Scoring

Back on the World Showcase bridge, some scoring in the pavement suggests it will be torn up and replaced.

Scoring is a process of cutting pavement to make it easier to remove.

The scoring is near where a liquid layer splash pad used to be, past the refurbished DVC kiosk and newly reopened merchandise kiosks.

If you are looking for a splash pad in EPCOT, the one in World Discovery (pictured below) was recently refurbished.
