Most Decorative Panels Removed From NBA Experience at Disney Springs

Crews have now removed most of the decorative silver elements from the exterior of the former NBA Experience at Disney Springs.

NBA Experience Construction

After filing a permit for demolition at the short-lived NBA Experience, Disney began to remove the large themed panels earlier this month. They previously wrapped around the top of the building from this corner to the far side, over City Works.

The supports for the panels remain on the walls, including above the screen that now displays ads for Cirque du Soleil’s “Drawn to Life.”

When we last checked on progress, there were still panels on this corner above CityWorks. These are now gone, as are some of the panels from the side of the building facing the Cirque du Soleil theater.

There are only two sets of panels remaining. They were shaped to create a swooping stripe across the façade.

They feature sparkle patterns on the fronts.

Some wiring hangs where a panel used to be.

The gray and blue siding is dotted with square metal supports from the paneling.

The NBA Experience opened in August 2019, replacing DisneyQuest. In March 2020, Disney Springs closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The NBA Experience never reopened. In October 2020, all NBA Experience Cast Members were laid off but Disney didn’t announce the offering’s permanent closure until August 2021. The building was used for a limited-time “Star Wars” VR experience in 2022.
