Get ready for a blockbuster summer at the Universal Orlando Resort. It appears that a new parade, lagoon show, and more new experiences are coming soon. Universal Orlando has just shared a photo of a stack of VHS tapes that hint at some of this summer’s new offerings.
Universal Orlando Teases Summer Entertainment
There are five tapes with the labels “Summer 2024,” “Childhood Memories,” “Fun in the Water,” “First Day of School,” and “Get the show on the road!” Universal Orlando Resort wrote as a caption, “Just found these tapes. Should we see what’s on them?”
We’ve reported rumors about this summer’s Tribute Store, likely featuring “Ghostbusters” and other films, but the VHS tapes don’t feature any obvious allusions to movies — except maybe “Fun in the Water” referring to “Jaws.” More likely, “Fun in the Water” teases the new nighttime lagoon show. Construction is ongoing around the lagoon, with new projectors and fountains installed.
Props in the Mardi Gras Tribute Store (pictured above) alluded to the summer Tribute Store being themed to a 90’s video store and arcade. The fact that these new hints are on VHS tapes keeps up with the retro theme for the summer.
We think “Jaws” will be featured in the Tribute Store, as well as the lagoon show and summer parade. “Get the show on the road!” may refer to this parade, which has yet to be announced.
“Childhood Memories” seems to tease the opening of DreamWorks Land this summer. An official opening date has not been announced yet.
And finally, “First Day of School” may point to the return of “Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle.” New projectors have recently been installed around Hogsmeade, so we anticipate this show will return for the summer.
Universal Orlando is gearing up for an epic Summer with many new experiences. It seems like Universal Orlando is teasing that announcements are coming soon, so be sure to stay tuned for more updates.
