Hami-Kuma, a fan favorite icon of Japan’s version of Halloween Horror Nights may be coming to Hollywood and Orlando for HHN34 in 2025.
According to Hallowed Out Horror (@hallowed_horror on X), Universal has filed trademarks for the bear to appear in the North American parks. Both Hollywood and Orlando are included in the filings. The trademarks would allow Hami-Kuma to appear in merchandise as well as become a costumed performer.
While not confirmed, this could mean that the bear would be a potential candidate for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. Either way, the trademarks do make his appearance possible in some capacity for the events.
Hami-Kuma translates into “protruding bear.” Hami means “sticking out” or protruding” in Japanese while Kuma means bear. This, of course, is a perfect name for the bear as he has mysterious and colorful items protruding from his stomach.

Hami-Kuma debuted in Japan in 2021 as a character in their Gothic Killer Cuties scare zone. Since then, he has grown in popularity as he joined the Zombie de Dance show and other offerings around the park. It now appears that the domestic parks are looking to join in on the frightful fun.

Just after Christmas, Horror Night Nightmares (@HHNightmares on X) released their first speculation maps for HHN 34 at Universal Studios Florida and HHN 2025 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The maps have presents marked with question marks representing the houses that are currently mysteries. The scare zones at Universal Studios Florida are all currently unknown, as is the stage show.
In other HHN news, Universal announced via social media that Halloween Horror Nights will return to Universal Studios Florida with its earliest start date ever, August 29, 2025.
At Halloween Horror Nights, guests face terrifying haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment along with some of Universal Studios’ attractions. HHN is a separately ticketed event meaning that regular daytime park tickets do not grant you access.
Tickets for this year’s event are not yet available. Do you plan to purchase event tickets when they do become available?
