The Dino Institute may be about to close, but the institute’s intern will continue entertaining guests with a special sing-along this “Cool Kid Summer.”
Cool Kid Summer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Walt Disney World will celebrate Cool Kid Summer from May 27 through September 1, 2025. During this time, the Dino Institute Intern will wrap up days at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a “musical moment” at Discovery Island. The intern is a live improv musician who debuted last year at Restaurantosaurus in DinoLand U.S.A. The intern will lead an interactive sing-along celebrating the park’s animals “with original songs, playful storytelling, and plenty of chances to join in.”
In addition to the intern’s performances, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will debut a special new limited-time Wilderness Explorers badge. Disney didn’t share much information about the badge, just saying guests should “keep an eye out for some amazing animals, including tigers, okapi and more.”
Finally, Rafiki’s Planet Watch will offer hands-on crafts related to pollinators like bees and butterflies.

The Dino Institute is the fictional organization behind DINOSAUR, which is set to close permanently and become an Indiana Jones attraction as DinoLand is transformed into a Tropical Americas land. DINOSAUR is expected to close early in 2026.
