Cinderella Castle Painting Steadily Continues at Magic Kingdom

After paint reached the surroundings of the clock’s face earlier this week, steady progress has been made around the castle.

On the side of the castle facing Fantasyland/Liberty Square, the wall between the two towers at the center of the picture has now been fully reverted, while the bottom half of the wall to its left has also been painted.

From the castle’s side profile, the variation in gray is noticeable, as the color will be a lighter shade the further it travels up the building to create a version of forced perspective as was first planned by its designer, John Hench.

At the back, more of the golden window detailing has been painted, as the center and right frames are noticeably less sparkling. As per the official announcement, some of the gold detailing will be kept, raising the question of whether or not the remaining gold will be painted gray or kept the way it currently is.

The most progress has been made on the side of the castle facing Tomorrowland, as several turrets and walls have been painted since our last update from this side. The most work appears to remain on this side as well as the front.

Work is being done as inconspicuously as possible so as not to be obtrusive for the guests.

For reference, pictured above is the castle in 2019 with its original color scheme and in 2021 after it was painted for the 50th anniversary.
