During our morning trip to Magic Kingdom, we saw freshly poured concrete outside Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. In our last construction update, crews had poured concrete in a new foundation near the main entrance. Now they’ve paved over two sections of sidewalk that were previously torn up.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Construction

Just after 9 a.m., crew members were smoothing out the freshly poured concrete in two rectangular sections of the ground. These are at the front of the construction zone. In the ground between them is some kind of small square foundational element.

Other sections of dirt are ready for concrete with wood outlines and rebar frames. The element closer to the attraction’s entrance has a rectangular opening near its front that appears to have been filled with stones or gravel.

Though Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed since last summer, construction didn’t begin in front of the attraction until last month, when the entrance archway and signage were removed and then pavement was torn up.
Compare to the photo below of the ride entrance before the closure.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will reopen this spring with new and updated scenes, a new character, new ride vehicles, handheld blasters, and interactive targets.
