Every day, Cinderella Castle turns a little bit more gray as the Magic Kingdom icon has its classic color scheme restored. After the paint reached the surroundings of the clock’s face last week, progress has been made around the front and back of the castle. There is also scaffolding at a section of the moat.
Cinderella Castle Repainting: February 23, 2026

Some of the gold trim behind the clock tower has been painted gray, and crew members have started painting the nearby pink walls. The pink wall at the back of the balcony below the clock has started being painted, a clear change from our last update.

We could see some scaffolding hiding behind one of the turrets.

Crews have been painting around the windows of Cinderella’s Royal Table on the back side, and it appears they have finished painting this section. As per the official announcement, some of the gold detailing will be kept, raising the question of whether or not the remaining gold will be painted gray or kept the way it currently is.

We did not notice a noticeable change to the sides of the castle. This might change in the days to come, as the front continues to be painted and most of the work on these sides are walls adjacent to the front side.
From the castle’s side profile, the variation in gray is noticeable, as the color will be a lighter shade the further it travels up the building to create a version of forced perspective as was first planned by its designer, John Hench.

Most notably in the castle’s surroundings, there is scaffolding with stairs on the side near Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.
Work is being done as inconspicuously as possible so as not to be obtrusive for the guests.

For reference, pictured above is the castle in 2019 with its original color scheme and in 2021 after it was painted for the 50th anniversary.
