Permit Filed for New Set Coming to Former MuppetVision 3D Theater

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a Notice of Commencement for the installation of set elements at the former MuppetVision 3D theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The theater will be home to a new Monsters, Inc. experience as part of the Monstropolis land.

The permit contracts scenic design company Adirondack Studios to “Install set elements” at the theater. Adirondack has worked with Disney several times before including on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Pandora – The World of Avatar, and Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea.

Crews have recently removed brickwork from the MuppetVision 3D theater and installed scaffolding. The theater will get a brand-new marquee dubbing it The Glob. Disney hasn’t released details about the new experience it will house.

As usual, the permit expires in one year, indicating work will be completed in that timeframe.

In addition to the theater experience, the land will include a Monsters, Inc. door coaster, which is under construction in a backstage parking lot.

Fans will soon be able to experience MuppetVision 3D again with Apple Vision Pro and other VR headsets.
