The painted Walt Disney Studios billboard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is now complete with the retro image of Mickey Mouse added. The billboard welcomes guests to Animation Courtyard, which is being reimagined into the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard inspired by the real studios in Burbank, California.

The billboard mural is on the side of the theater for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” where a “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” billboard used to be. Inspired by a billboard that once looked over Disney’s Hyperion Studio, it reads:

Walt Disney Studios
Mickey Mouse
And
Silly Symphony
Sound Cartoons

Mickey is now pictured waving at the top and a border was added to the mural.

As part of the courtyard’s reimagining, this soundstage will be renamed the Studio Theater.

Additional trees have been planted in the courtyard directly in front of and to the side of the Disney Jr. soundstage. The trees near the center of the courtyard were added earlier during construction and there are new small trees in front of “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.”

The Disney Jr. building now has a "Stage" sign painted near its corner. This is approximately where it once had a red "Stage 5" sign that matched other old Disney's Hollywood Studios signage. A number may be added to this new sign later.

Later in the day, we saw crew members working on the plywood structure in front of the Sorcerer Hat. They could be replacing it or adding more on top of it.

The brand-new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show will open on May 26. The courtyard is expected to open on the same date but The Magic of Disney Animation will open later.

The courtyard has more green space and pavement featuring character autographs and handprints. Characters are expected to appear outside as well as inside The Magic of Disney Animation. Guests will also be able to learn to draw with Olaf (instead of live artists) and play on an Alice in Wonderland playground.
