Bonjour from EPCOT’s France pavilion! There is so much work going on in this section of the park that it’s hard to keep up with sometimes.
Between the new expansion with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie de Paris and the removal of the trees that used to line the walkway, we keep expecting to find crazy new projects.
Today’s interesting new project sighting was this new section of concrete in front of the Les Halles ice creamery.
To the right and behind the stanchions, a new type of solid, dark brown concrete has been laid right alongside the old gray cobblestone concrete.
The color contrast is stark and was instantly noticeable.
All around the area with the new concrete we noticed scoring throughout the old gray cobblestones. This seems to indicate that more concrete will be ripped out and replaced with the new brown kind. We’ll lose a little bit more of the authentic France feeling for sure.
This update is just one of many changes coming to the France pavilion as it undergoes the full overhaul. More changes are surely coming in the near future as Impressions de France and the Beauty and the Beast Singalong open as well.
Be sure to check back with WDW News Today for more updates on the France pavilion and all of EPCOT!
Thank Heaven!! I ride a scooter at Disney and cobblestones and brick pavers look wonderful but they are terrible when you ride over them!!!! I ache for days afterward. Even the fake mud at the new Star Wars area is rough.
They can remove France all together if they want and replace it with pretty much any other country.
Boo 👎
So happy thrilled actually about the old gray cobblestone being removed from France. This type of walkway makes it very hard for
some people to walk and very harmful to people in wheelchairs with muscle or back issues.
