UPDATE: After hours of being offline, it seems FastPass+ selections have returned to My Disney Experience. However, we still expect a number of changes leading up to the official reopening, so stay tuned for more updates as they occur.
As we alluded to in an earlier post, a lot of things are changing on the back end of Walt Disney World operations in the lead-up to the grand reopening. As we already know, Disney has temporarily paused all new ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel reservations, and currently, no dining reservations are available. However, if you were able to secure FastPass+ selections for the reopening, if you open up My Disney Experience, you’ll likely find that they’re gone now.
Despite proposed reopening dates, the logistics of the reopening are still being determined, and with limited capacity and operations, many believe FastPass+ will not be utilized at all. Disney has already implemented a virtual queue system for the World of Disney reopening at Disney Springs to some degree of success, and before then, it had a Boarding Group system in place for the popular Rise of the Resistance attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney Parks have been continuously moving towards virtual queues, and with new social distancing mandates, it may be the only way to go.
In a recent update, wording throughout the My Disney Experience app changed most mentions of Boarding Groups to simply “virtual queue”, including a new section called “My Queues”, which appeared to have slots for numerous attractions. The shift was made in anticipation of upcoming attraction openings like WEB SLINGERS: A Spider Man Adventure attraction at Disney California Adventure and, at Walt Disney World, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, plus the TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom. Now, we may be seeing it used as a commonplace practice throughout the reopenings for even classic attractions like The Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean.
As we mentioned in our post about the new park hours for the reopening, shortened operating hours aren’t necessarily detrimental to your trip, considering the circumstances. Given that park capacity will be limited, wait times are expected to be shorter, meaning you could potentially do way more in less time with the new setup. If virtual queues are established within the park in lieu of FastPass+, then all you have to worry about is scoring that required advance reservation for access to the parks.
where can the My Queues be found on disney app?
Maybe (probably) my fast passes will eventually disappear. But as of right now, all of my plans are still shown for a July 11 through July 16 visit.
