Welcome to a wet start to the weekend at the Magic Kingdom! It’s our first weekend of March, which means an onslaught of both spring showers and spring break crowds will be coming to Walt Disney World in the near future. We’re getting a taste of both today, so let’s take a look at the state of the park.
At the front of the park, Main Street Station has been covered in scrim for nearly three months now, and there’s no definitive end in sight for the refurbishment work.
At the nearby Emporium, a couple of new additions to the Jerrod Maruyama “Kingdom of Cute” homewares collection were found, in the form of a travel bowl and silicone baking pan.
Also on the merchandise front, new Cinderella Castle AirPod cases have been introduced for both standard AirPods and AirPods Pro.
Taking a break from merchandise for a moment, progress on TRON Lightcycle / Run has continued as some of the latter portions of the canopy frame have recently been added.
While the ongoing construction to the illuminated canopy was fully expected, a Universal-style visit from an osprey trying to build a nest on top of a roller coaster — in this case, TRON — was a bit of a surprise.
At the neighboring Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., the MaDe kiosks held a variety of new spring and Easter merchandise, including MagicBands, phone cases, and t-shirts.
Heading into Fantasyland, Hundred Acre Goods held a unique addition — this Baby Pegasus big feet plush.
We also noticed that Cinderella’s carriage remains after nearly five months in Fantasyland. The carriage was initially expected to depart after the holidays, and again after Valentine’s Day, yet it still endures as a photo-op.
In Frontierland, we were excited to see the return of the sign for Big Al’s, the merchandise kiosk just outside of Country Bear Jamboree.
Rounding out our first lap of the park, we noticed the recent addition of more plexiglass to the queue of Pirates of the Caribbean doesn’t seem to have done much to reduce the lines outside of the attraction.
Checking in again at Emporium, new Popsockets had been stocked — one featuring a retro Disney logo, and one with a classic Disney quote.
Approaching Tomorrowland once again, we saw that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin had quite the line, extending to the outskirts of the land.
Buzz Lightyear himself was appearing at the Rockettower Plaza Stage, seemingly ignorant to the lines for his namesake attraction.
Fantasyland wasn’t fairing much better, with Peter Pan’s Flight experiencing downtime that resulted in clearing out all guests from the queue.
For the remainder of our visit, we’d mostly be spotting cavalcades in their various forms. In the case of this first one, a Rainy Day Cavalcade version of the Mickey and Friends Cavalcade.
Not long after, a princess-centric Rainy Day Cavalcade would roll through Frontierland, Liberty Square, the Hub, and Main Street.
Back on Main Street, a standard version of the Fantasyland Friends Cavalcade would herald some sunnier weather during a break in the precipitation.
Finally, still on Main Street, the balloon selection was a bit… limited. While the selection would certainly be refreshed, at this moment there was little choice but orange.
