Last year, Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom received a new look. Most notably, gold accents were added and the castle’s white section was painted pink. Additionally, the turrets and roofs were painted a brighter, shimmering blue. We’ve noticed recently, however, that the blue is already being repainted.

The difference is obvious when looking at most of the turrets on the castle’s first level versus the roofing in the center front and on the second level.

The roofing that has yet to be repainted looks more purple and has some crisscrossed lines that were either purposefully very subtle when added last year or are the older paint shining through.

The freshly painted turrets are darker, and have a nicer shine to them. This is more the classic look of Cinderella Castle.

We would guess the new round of painting is an effort to make Cinderella Castle look its best before “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” kicks off later this year.

Decorative bunting is being added to the castle piece-by-piece to prepare it for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. The castle’s stage is also being refurbished while stage shows continue to be suspended.

  1. Now can we get rid of the hideous pink color in the middle? Bring it back to a whitish color like it used to be!

  2. As happy as I am to see the blue turrets return from that abysmal purple, this is nothing but a good start on rectifying the horrible changes to the iconic castle look. Even with the return of the beautiful blue, what was Disney thinking with the mismatched set of light pink over such a dismal deep grey?

Keep going Disney. Either the dark grey needs to be 20 shades lighter or the pink must go back to a creamy white…or both.

  3. Oh thank goodness!! I couldn’t help but think how terrible that purple/blue hue looked in January, especially the section behind the clock…it seemed to be fading already and looked like they used craft paint. If they would just change the shade of pink to look more like the concept art I would be over the moon!

    • Exactly … LOVED the concept art..! The execution was terrible … looked like a daycare you don’t wanna send your kids to! 😆

  4. Seems strange… I wonder if there was some disconnect on the colors of the “bunting” and the roof color, because the new pieces clearly clash with the iridescent color they made the roof. They look to have the more traditional blue color, in the shading and jewels. I think they’re neat. The pink is weird, it’s not Aurora’s castle! The purply roof kinda grew on me but I wasn’t sure the new stuff looked very good with it. I guess we’ll see what happens now. Overall the paint changes feel wasteful. Somebody made a mistake.

  5. I was so excited when I saw the headline that they were changing the paint because I thought that meant they were getting rid of the pink. It is hideous. The DisneyLAND castle is pink, not the Magic Kingdom. If they want to celebrate the original castle, THE PINK HAS TO GO. It makes me mad just to look at it.

    • Same ..! 😠… I’m hoping and believing the return to blue is just a start or some sort. Big money no whammies..!

  6. This gives me hope.. thank you so much for this story…! .. surprised you’re the only one reporting it..! This is a great start… ! The redo was hideous!
