“We call it EPCOT, spelled E-P-C-O-T: Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Here it is in larger scale. EPCOT will take its cue from the new ideas and new technologies that are now emerging from the creative centers of American industry. It will be a community of tomorrow that will never be completed, but will always be introducing and testing and demonstrating new materials and systems. And EPCOT will always be a showcase to the world for the ingenuity and imagination of American free enterprise.” – Walt Disney.
Welcome to a hot, sunny day at EPCOT! Take a trip around with us as we discover what lies in store. Let’s jump in!
We hopped aboard the EPCOT Monorail this morning, which very recently reopened after being closed since March of 2020.
Our view from the monorail gave us a great look at all of the many areas under construction throughout the park, such as Moana – Journey of Water, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Creations Shop, and More.
Once on the ground, we took a closer look at the construction for the upcoming Creations Shop and Re-imagined Club Cool. We’ve also seen the addition of 2 new booths inside of the construction area recently.
We’re getting ready to blast through space on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, so take a look as construction progresses on the attraction. Today we found that they had extended the scrim throughout the area to cover more land.
Say hello to everyone’s favorite imaginary friend, Bing Bong! Or at least say hello to a projected version of him inside of the Imagination! Pavilion. These Bing Bong projections have recently lit up near “Imagination Land” and feature unique sound effects whenever they appear. These can be found at the exit of Journey Into Imagination With Figment.
We found a certain little chef hanging out at the Hawai’i EPCOT International Food and Wine booth. Can you spot him? To hear all of our thoughts on this year’s Hawai’i booth, click here.
Work continues on the Harmonious barges placed throughout World Showcase Lagoon. Harmonious, the EPCOT Nighttime Spectacular, is set to debut on October 1. This show will replace Epcot Forever, which, as we learned today, is going to be permanently retired.
Over in Germany, we found that the “Sorry We Are Closed” stickers have been removed from the doors of Der Teddybär and Volkskunst Clocks and Crafts. After the unexpected reopening of Northwest Mercantile and Trading Post Refreshments a few days ago, we hope to see these stores return as well.
EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is in full swing, so make sure to take a trip around the world and try some of this year’s delicious dishes! To hear about all of the festival offerings, make sure to check out the full menus here.
Mickey and Minnie wish guests farewell as they exit the park.
And that brings us to the end of our day at EPCOT. Thanks for following us around! Which upcoming project are you most excited to see in this park? Leave us a comment below, letting us know! Have a great day; we’ll “see ya real soon!”
So I’m mostly fine with Disney moving some IP things into Epcot. But I always assumed Journey Into Imagination would be pretty safe since Figment is his own thing. I think the Bing Bong thing is adorable but it did give me the startling realization that if they wanted to they could put Bing Bong in there instead and I’m not liking that!
THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!! PLEASE, NOOOOOO!!!
We were there on July15th no Mickey and Minnie at exit for us.
It was nice meeting you on the monorail.
Bring back fast passes. Too annoying to “schedule” rides so far ahead of time. You only get 3 rides most of the time.
