While construction work is over for now in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, work continues outside and in guest rooms. During our visit today, we saw that walls have come down around Gasparilla Island Grill, and the entrance is now open to guests

Earlier this month, we reported that scaffolding had partially come down on the balconies above the quick-service restaurant.

With work seemingly wrapped up in this area, the walls have also come down.

The restaurant has remained open during construction at the resort, but guests previously had to walk through a tunnel made of construction walls.

Now, the entrance is completely open for guests to walk freely up to it.

While some walls are still present to the left of the restaurant’s entrance, it seems it’s only a matter of time before those come down as well.

Outdoor seating has also returned to Gasparilla Island Grill, offering guests a place to enjoy their meal in the nice weather.

During our visit, crews were actively out on site working on a nearby side of the building via lift.

This section was also blocked off with potted plants to discourage guests from getting too close.

Some temporary green barriers are still up to the left of the restaurant’s entrance as work continues on that side of the building.

Here’s a look at the entrance to Gasparilla Island Grill, no white construction walls in sight.

It also appears that new pavement was poured here next to the Gasparilla Island Grill Entrance.

You can see the color really stand out here against the other concrete.

Arcadia Games is also open for guests to enjoy.

Grand Floridian Construction

Taking a look at the Grand Floridian from across the Seven Seas Lagoon, we can see that crews are actively at work on the roof of the resort.

Scaffolding covers the entire left side of the building, as well as the lower middle and far right sections.

We spotted an entire team at work on the roof, likely continuing with the process of replacing the red tiles.

Scaffolding has gone up around the center turret on this building, as well.

On this building, we saw crew members in two lifts hard at work.

We previously saw these lifts working on guests rooms on the other side of this building. Now it appears so though they’re working on the siding.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Refurbishment

Former CEO Bob Chapek began a major overhaul of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa when he took over the Parks & Resorts division in 2015. The updates began with the “Beauty and the Beast”-themed Enchanted Rose Lounge, which replaced Mizner’s Lounge. Cítricos followed with a new “Mary Poppins”-inspired design. When the Grand Floridian Spa reopened in January 2022, it too had been remodeled.

All rooms of the Grand Floridian Resort are still being updated and some “Mary Poppins” theming has been added throughout guest buildings.

Narcoossee’s was closed from June 2022 to April 2023, and reopened with a revamped interior and “land and sea” menu. Read our Narcoossee’s review here.1900 Park Fare, the character dining buffet location at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, is still closed for refurbishment. The restaurant has not reopened since it closed in March 2020 with the rest of Walt Disney World Resort due to COVID-19.

Disney confirmed that the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be remodeled but “will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.” The remodel was delayed to next year.
