The newest lightsaber hilt available at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is that of High Republic era Jedi Stellan Gios. This is the first time that merchandise from The High Republic era of “Star Wars” is available at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

It was displayed with a Star Wars: The High Republic comic featuring Stellan Gios. The Jedi was first introduced in the novel “The High Republic: Light of the Jedi” by Charles Soule released in January 2021 and has gone on to appear and be mentioned in several High Republic books and comics.

Stellan Gios has a unique lightsaber hilt with two long guard pieces, including two bars that light up the same color as the blade — blue. It’s black, silver, and gold with a red button.

When purchased, the hilt comes in its case inside a cardboard box, with a taped-on handle.

The release of the Stellan Gios lightsaber roughly coincides with the commencement of The High Republic’s third phase. The first comic book from the new chapter was released on November 8, while George Mann’s “The Eye of Darkness,” the first novel of the third and final phase, was released on November 14.

Star Wars: The High Republic

The Acoylte behind the scenes

The “Star Wars: The High Republic” publishing push was announced by Lucasfilm in 2020. The multi-faceted storytelling initiative introduced a new era to the “Star Wars” timeline, a ‘golden age of the Jedi’ set hundreds of years before the events of “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.” The company, at the time, announced that stories would be told across several formats, including comic books, novels, and audioplays.

Hundreds of characters from the era have been introduced since the launch of the initiative, but The High Republic has not yet been deeply explored in theatrical or streaming content. While the “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures” animated Disney+ series does take place in The High Republic era, the program is geared toward younger audiences and, thus, does not get into the intricacies of what sets The High Republic apart from other sections of the “Star Wars” timeline. The upcoming “The Acolyte” Disney+ series created by Leslye Headland will also take place during The High Republic era.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge DL

While The High Republic era merchandise has been available at Disney Parks in the past in the form of phone cases and “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures” plushes, this is the first time that a collectible from the era will be available at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This is perhaps due to the differing places on the “Star Wars” timeline in which the two properties reside; The High Republic era stories take place hundreds of years before the prequel trilogy, while Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was originally set amid the sequel trilogy between Episodes 8 and 9.

The Disneyland Park version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge broke from the timeline with the introduction of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand as meet-and-greet characters in 2022. The Walt Disney World version of the land has largely stayed true to the timeline due to the presence of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcuiser immersive hotel, but with its recent closure, looser adherence to the timeline may become more prevalent. It has, however, had the Mandalorian and Grogu since March 2023.

Batuu, the planet on which Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge takes place, will appear in the “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures” series. A “Young Jedi Adventures” inspired beverage debuted at the milk stand at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in August of this year.
