Over three years after work began, more covered seating opened at Woody’s Lunch Box in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Woody’s Lunch Box Construction

The newest structure at the outdoor quick-service restaurant now has a blue roof, matching the other shades in the seating area. This structure remains blocked by rolling planters and green scrim.

Lights haven’t been installed on the underside of this structure, indicating there is still wire work to be done. The structures that have opened all have lights to help illuminate the seats below.

There are also still some openings in the roof — not ideal for a rainy Florida day. Once complete, it will be completely solid.

During most of the three-year construction, Woody’s Lunch Box has remained open with uncovered seating. The seating area did close last fall to be demolished and rebuilt. The first covered seating area opened in April.

Several more shaded structures have now been opened, with tables and chairs below them. Work isn’t quite done on these — a column remains wrapped in scrip. But there is finally some respite from the sun.

Another shade structure remains behind rolling planters closer to the check-out counter. Like the one near the exit, this structure has a roof but no lights yet.
Lack of shade was a big criticism when Toy Story Land first opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2018. When Roundup Rodeo BBQ opened in 2023, it provided shaded dining, but only if you wanted a table-service meal. Woody’s Lunch Box remained the land’s only quick-service option but with no shaded areas to sit.
Construction began around Woody’s Lunch Box in early 2022, coinciding with work on the new Toy Story Mania! gift shop, Jessie’s Trading Post, which opened that summer. At that time, the first shade structure was erected at Woody’s Lunch Box but remained incomplete and closed for years. In 2023, a building was constructed between Woody’s Lunch Box and the Toy Story Mania! exit queue. It was painted with themed Cowboy Cookin’ Set murals. The last scrim finally came down from around the building this year but it hasn’t opened to guests.
