The central tower of The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom is now surrounded by scaffolding covered in green scrim. This follows the bulk of the façade being hidden by scrim, scaffolding, and construction walls for exterior construction.
Haunted Mansion Scrim

The new scrim and scaffolding is around the building’s tallest tower, which you can see on the printed scrim in the foreground. Although most of the scrim features images of The Haunted Mansion, the new scrim is solid green. It could be replaced with printed scrim later.

The bat-shaped weathervane is still visible peeking above the scrim and scaffolding. We don’t expect any major changes to the mansion’s façade, except for a rumored extension.
For comparison, below is The Haunted Mansion without signs of construction.

The Haunted Mansion remains open during construction, and the sea captain character recently returned.
In January, Disney filed two construction permits for The Haunted Mansion and crews cleared the lawn of plants. There had been signs of construction in the queue’s graveyard for months and this was expanded to the front of the mansion.
The mansion is right next to the construction site for Piston Peak National Park, a new Cars area replacing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. Construction on the mansion may be related to the new land but — as we said — the mansion itself is not expected to change.
