Marquee Plating Fully Installed, New Gift Shop Sign in Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The transformation of Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios into Walt Disney Studios Courtyard is almost complete. Spotlights have been installed above the new movie billboards and a sign is above The Magic of Disney Animation gift shop.

To the right of the marquee is a sign covered by pieces of scrim. We saw this in aerial photos earlier this month, but some of the scrim has been adjusted, making it easier to see the sign consists of large letters — just like the courtyard's other new signage.

The visible letters look like they could spell “ion” so this may be a second “Animation” sign. It’s located above the gift shop entrance.

The movie poster billboards added on Studio Theater and Stage 1 last week now have spotlights above them so they can be illuminated at night. Studio Theater is the new name for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” soundstage while the Disney Jr. soundstage is now Stage 1.

The courtyard is expected to open on May 26 with the opening of “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” Disney has not announced an opening date for The Magic of Disney Animation but it’s scheduled for this summer.
