Work has been moving steadily to reimagine the entrances of Walt Disney World ahead of its 50th anniversary, with the focus now on the World Drive entrance and the mouse that started it all.

The repainting to the new royal blue and stone gray color scheme has come a long way in a short time.

On the left side, Goofy’s portion is complete, showing off just how the color scheme will look.

Attention then turned to Donald Duck, and the signage on the right that says “Welcome to Walt Disney World Resort.” That section also now seems complete, as we pointed out on our last visit.

Now the focus is on the archway and Mickey Mouse, whose background has been primed in a gray color ahead of the repainting.

Workers are also painting the columns directly to the left of him, removing the final traces of the previous brick red color.

Soon, Minnie Mouse’s portion and the arch will also be repainted, bringing new signage and those cool iridescent flags.

World Drive is the fourth of five entrances to receive this makeover for the 50th. Work has already been finished on the entrances on Western Way, Hotel Plaza Boulevard and Osceola Parkway. Once the refurbishment is complete here, World Center Drive will be the only one left to be repainted.
