PHOTO REPORT: Disney Springs 6/20/20 (Limited Release Merchandise, Disney & Third-Party Masks, Construction Updates, and More)

Welcome to the weekend at Disney Springs! It’s another big day filled with sun, merch, and updates of all kinds. Let’s apply some sunscreen and head on in.

World of Disney Morning 6 20 20

Upon arriving at Disney Springs and heading over to World of Disney with the other early risers, most of these guests opted to form a line outside of the flagship merchandise store.

This relatively unusual behavior was due to Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction merchandise, which was not being released in-store today, or anywhere, as Disney had already announced. Once a manager greeted the guests and confirmed that information, the small line quickly disbanded.

Marketplace Co Op 6 20 20

On a similar note, Marketplace Co-Op – which started selling official Disney character masks on Thursday – had no signage or queue markings set up today. A manager quickly confirmed that masks would not be sold today, and are not expected to begin again until Monday.

World of Disney Early Open 6 20 20

While guests may have been disappointed about a lack of a Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction release and mask sales, World of Disney opened an hour early to ease the pain of waiting until 10:00 am. We don’t know if this was a planned or impromptu change, but it was most welcome.

World of Disney Loungefly Bag Display 6 20 20

Inside the store, there’s now a display featuring many of the Loungefly bags and wallets available throughout the store. For guests seeking out a new Loungefly item, this concentration of items is certainly helpful.

Nearby, in the Star Wars section, this “The Child” doll arrived (and quickly departed). As is often the case, anything Baby Yoda does not last long upon it’s Walt Disney World debut. We’ve got plenty of pictures and pricing over in our dedicated post – click here to see the details.

Pin Cork Ears 6 20 20 1

While there wasn’t much else in the way of new merchandise at World of Disney, Disney’s Pin Traders was the epicenter of new merchandise today, starting with these Cork Minnie Mouse Ears.

As their name suggests, the ears are made of cork and meant to hold a variety of pins. The bow is removable, making them appropriate for those who don’t fancy bows.

Beyond the ears, this Limited Release 2020 Passholder MagicBand featuring Donald Duck made its delightful debut. It also includes the Hollywood Tower Hotel, home to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

MMS Store Construction 6 20 20

Several doors down from the Galactic Outpost, the M&M’S Store is still in the early stages of its construction. Head over to our update post for more pictures and details on the current condition of the location.

Deeper into the Disney Springs West Side, City Works Eatery & Pour House continues to put the finishing touches on its new canopy, such as an Exit sign and emergency lighting.

NBA Experience Signage 6 20 20

As you may have noticed from that last City Works picture, all of the digital signage at the NBA Experience was on today, however, it doesn’t appear that a reopening of the NBA Experience is imminent due to the challenges of safely operating an interactive facility in the current conditions.

lululemon Construction 6 20 20 1

For our final construction update, lululemon has added additional texturing over the layer of backing that was installed yesterday. We’re hopeful this will lead to some painting, and eventually a sign for the athleisure brand.

Sassagoula Steamboat Co. Tape Markers 6 20 20 1

At the Sassagoula Steamboat Co. dock, we’re still limited to placeholding tape for physical distancing in the queue for the resort transportation. As resorts will begin opening Monday, we expect this to change to the more formal markers in the very near future.

Goofys Glaciers Candy Co. 6 20 20

At the recently re-opened Goofy’s Candy Co., Goofy’s Glaciers are once again being served, though alcoholic options are not currently available. The Marketplace candy store reopened on June 10th, then inexplicably closed on June 14th, and opened once again on June 17th.

Wrapping up at Shore, they received a new supply of their soft and lightweight masks, after having been down to their last few sets yesterday. For a full rundown of stores selling masks at Disney Springs, check out our comprehensive post on the subject.

Disney Springs Recycling Bin 6 20 20
Disney Springs Walkway Loose Tiles 6 20 20

This dubiously-placed recycling bin, which first appeared in the middle of the walkway yesterday, clearly remains in its position. As we noticed loose tiles in the strip just prior to the bin, it’s safe to assume it is protecting guests from even more disheveled tiling.

Disney Springs Crowds Afternoon Guests with Masks 6 20 20

For the moderate crowd levels in the afternoon, this wasn’t a big deal. We’ll see how many people run into it later in the day as the guest count increases.

Balloons at World of Disney 6 20 20 1

There are plenty of distractions around World of Disney, such as the balloon vendor, offering a floating reminder of Main Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom.

THE INCREDI CREW New Shirt and Mask Disney Springs 6 20 20

Finally, one of our favorite Cast Members, Ashley, yet again posed for us as part of the newly-named “The Incredi-Crew”. This group of cast members delivers a dose of energy and enthusiasm to guests at Disney Springs, alongside safety advice, and started rocking their new shirts and color-blocked masks today.
