Walt Disney World Asks Guests to Reschedule if Unable to Properly Wear Face Masks at all Times

Walt Disney World has updated verbiage on their “Know Before You Go” landing page to further stress the importance of properly wearing a face mask in the parks and throughout property. If guests are unable to commit to wearing acceptable face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times, Disney asks that they simply reschedule their visit:

Acceptable face coverings must be worn over your nose and mouth at all times except in designated areas. If you’re unable to do this, please reschedule your Walt Disney World visit to a later time.

In addition to wording online, the audio announcement that periodically plays at Walt Disney World theme parks reminding guests to follow health and safety guidelines has been updated once again. This update states that guests not following face mask guidelines will be asked to leave. The announcement also explicitly states that these guidelines are for everyone’s health and safety. You can listen to the announcement in our video below:

This addition reflects signs that have been added to the parks instructing guests to properly wear approved face coverings.

In September, a video showed a man being removed from Disney’s Hollywood Studios for not wearing a mask, so we know Disney is taking this seriously. Despite Florida transitioning into “Phase 3”, a face mask mandate is still in effect for all of Orange County in Orlando, and face masks are required at most locations.

We previously released a guide to wearing face masks at the park, and you can check Walt Disney World’s website for the most up-to-date policies.

  1. they should offer them an acceptable mask , then if they do not comply, they should definately be asked to leave………..It is horrible to wear these things in the florida heat, BUT at this t ime it is manditory to wear them there. me I change my mask at least 3 times and we only stay up to 6 hours each time we go so we know what its like

  2. This is FANTASTIC. I’m so glad to see Disney taking a stand, being firm, and not bowing to whining people attempting to pressure them. People think they can make their own rules and demand companies do what they tell them to, and that’s just not the case. I find it hilarious that people are “threatening” not to go to Disney or to go to Universal instead because of the masks. Universal has masks, too, and it’s pretty funny that people would at least pretend to prefer a place that is lax on enforcement and untrustworthy about health practices — but then would be the first to complain or sue if they were to get injured in the park.

KEEP UP THE WONDERFUL WORK, DISNEY!!!!!!

  3. Myself and many others would like to know what exactly is a “later time.”

While I’m not anti-mask in my daily life, I am certainly on a Disney vacation, which is a ‘every 4 year’ event for us that takes us years to save for.

  4. I spoke with a Disney representative. His position was that it was better to be oppressive and not have anyone get covid on property. Now they are saying the only break we will get from wearing masks will be in designated areas, eating and drinking (stationary), and in our hotel rooms. The resorts have less foot traffic. You could be walking by yourself at a large moderate and not see people, and you would still have to wear a mask. Disney is more oppressive than my democrat ruled state. Can they be stopped? I don’t know. They are a private property and they have said basically, if you don’t like it, don’t come.

  5. Drop the mask mandates already. Latest statistics show 70% of people who have gotten infected were wearing face masks. The governor has overridden the local governments on mask fines so we are finally seeing people getting back to living their lives instead of this your going to kill grandma fear mongering.

  6. We had a vacation @ DW set for March of this year and they closed the park. Disney would NOT give us a refund so now we are being forced to use our tickets before 12/15 or lose the ticket value when we purchased them at the beginning of the year. And we all know the prices will double in price by this time next year. In essence, we are being forced into wearing a stupid mask that will not prevent on COVD transmission.
